Reyka Small Batch Vodka
Reyka Small Batch Vodka
40% ABV / 70cl
Distilled in Iceland from a blend of wheat and barley, Reyka is made using ultra-pure glacial water which is filtered through Icelandic lava rock. While this may sound superfluous, the superb quality of the water really shines through in the resulting spirit; imparting a wonderful freshness to the vodka as well as impeccable flavour.
The Reyka Distillery - Iceland's first distillery - is located in Borgarnes, Iceland. For those unfamiliar with Icelandic, that's pronounced Bor-gan-ess. Located 74km outside of Reykjavik, this coastal village is removed from industrial life and surrounded by wonderful natural resources. To help paint a picture of how untouched the resources are here, the CO2 levels in Borgarnes are actually falling. The air is really that clean. With bountiful, crisp arctic waters and abundant lava rocks at our disposal, we can't help but want to give the world a little taste of what we experience every day in Iceland. That's why we created Reyka. It's not just made in Iceland. It's made of the things that make this island unlike any other place in the world, from our breathtaking landscapes to our creative spirit.
Water is the most important ingredient in vodka production. So we collect arctic spring water from a spring that runs through a 4,000-year-old lava field. The lava rocks naturally filter the water making it some of the purest in the world. The purity of the water allows the flavour of our vodka to shine through. We use lava rock from nearby fields to create a natural filtration system. Some say this is the most effective filtration process in the world. We say it's the reason our vodka has such a smooth taste and clean, fresh character.
For the purest liquid, we distill our spirit in one of the few Carter-Head Stills in the world. In fact, our still is the only one of its kind used to make vodka. Its high level of copper gives Reyka an unparalleled smoothness from just a single distillation. Skal (that means "cheers") to that! Each distillation takes about 6 hours and yields 255 preciously small cases. Each bottle contains only natural flavours and extracts. No additives. Working in small batches mean we can make sure each bottle is the highest of high quality.
We're also proud to say that our distillery is powered by geothermal energy from volcanoes. While others might admire our "green" approach, we think it just makes good sense.
Pour over ice, so it remembers where it came from.
